Windsurfing Level 1

For the level 1 batch, i wanted to go a little wild with the design and do something i had never done before. If you look at my other windsurfing posters, its clear that i have a style that sort of rings through for all of them. However, i wanted something bold and unique to break out of the style i always go for. after a lot of research and finding inspiration, i finally found the look i wanted to try.

it was the 60's style psychedelic poster design.

POSTER 1

Borrowing inspiration from a music poster from the 60's, I adapted its features to fit the level 1 promotional needs. I figured since the necessary information would anyway be listed in the caption of the post, it was fine if the picture itself was a little hard to read. Even though I did still try to make it legible, I didn't have to worry too much as the same info would be repeated anyway in proper text. So, with all that in mind, I unleashed the trippiness. I decided to tone it down when it came to the windsurfer in the middle and the cca logo as those were the most important visual elements

The blue and purple look is still my favorite, but i started to realize it was slightly hard to see, likely because the contrast wasn't the greatest. Elements sort of blended together and could be missed. so I decided to create different colour variations to see what worked better. While i still wanted the blue and purple, i had to make peace with the fact that it might not make the best poster.

VARIATIONS

The variations definitely made the elements pop out more as there was a better contrast. this was particularly the case with the pink and yellow design which ended up being the one used for the level 1 promotion. i was still pretty proud of the end result as i got to go out of my comfort zone and successfully deliver something unique and interesting. It's definitely a design style I'd like to incorporate in the future with maybe my personal projects
