Windsurfing Glamping 2023:
A bit of light-hearted fun

Windsurfing Glamping 2023 was a barbeque that took place for my CCA in a glamping facility. This was a real fun and light-hearted project. It was my first time creating posters for the CCA for an event and I wanted to start as strong as I could. There isn't too much documentation and planning for this one because it was a more casual event. That being said, the end result still turned out to be something I'm quite happy about and enjoyed doing

POSTER 1
The theme for this event was beach style. Therefore all the posters naturally had to fit accordingly. The first of the posters takes inspiration from a similar style I did for my ROUX project. I wanted to create a vintage style poster with a beach theme to it. The initial sketch lines up more or less the same as the final outcome. I like this poster because of the techniques used to create the image. The assets used initially are all real life stock photos. However through effects such as textures and colour adjustments, the piece was able to have a water coloured look which I still think is pretty cool. It's extremely interesting to discover ways to combine certain features in Photoshop to create things that are totally different and unique. This was also the poster that eventually got printed for the barbeque event
POSTER 2

This second poster is something I didn't even do a proper sketch for beforehand. The reason being is that the idea struck me so quickly and so fully that I knew exactly what the final piece would look like. this would mostly be in part due to the already well established spotify layout design. With a few tweaks here and there. most notably the background, the piece was quite simple to make. Despite that, this poster was the most fun for me to make. I think its largely due to already having such a strong idea and knowing how to execute it proficiently that made this fun to work on. It made me feel quite competent in a way. Weirdly enough, instead of finding a spotify overlay and simply editing that, I created each individual icon such as the play button, rewind button and even the timeline. I don't know why I did it in such a overly complicated way but it felt great making all of those icons from scratch rather than just finding png's of them online.
also some details i wanna highlight, the time stamps for the piece are the timing the barbeque took place from 4pm to 9pm. the heart is also green showing the "song" is liked. lastly, all fonts i used for the piece are the same as the ones used on spotify because i downloaded a font pack just for the piece. the simplest piece but yet the most fun one for me
POSTER 3

Despite the previous poster being the most fun to work on, it's this last one i'm most proud of. For starters it's the most unique out of the 3. the comic book cover style paired with the photomanipulation of the coconut added 2 elements that really made something unique. Initially, these 2 elements were going to be 2 separate pieces. I merged both together because I felt that they worked better together rather than separately. Researching vintage comic covers showed me some really eye catching artwork and i knew i had to make something that was also attention grabbing. i replicated the superman comic logo for the words 'Constant wind' which is the reason they have the 3d effect and red and blue colour scheme. The inspiration for the other elements in the piece were taken from various comic book publishers depending on what i liked.
my favorite detail however is the 'pixelated' effect i put over the entire piece. there is a proper reason behind this effect. vintage comics were expensive to print i colour. as a result, a technique for colouring the page using tiny little ink dots was created in order to save money. if you haven't noticed before, take a look at vintage comic covers online. this pixelated effect while not exactly the same as the traditional vintage printing techniques, helps to pull the entire image together giving it that comic book feel for a piece of digital art. love this piece and like i mentioned, it's my favourite out of the 3
